The Scientific Institute of the Reformed Christian Church in Slovakia was responsible for the subscription to the journal and the management of all the tasks involved in publishing and maintaining a scientific journal. From 2024, the Faculty of Reformed Theology of Selye János University will assume the role of publisher. CJTA has provided multifaceted support to the Faculty of Reformed Theology for twenty years, including the organisation of joint conferences, scientific publications, volumes of studies and monographs. For two decades, the Faculty of Theology has been carrying out its work with the professional support of CJTA, and this recent decision is indicative of a strengthening of the Faculty. The Faculty of Reformed Theology of Selye János University has been given an academic journal that is already well established and known in the profession, and which has already published its 17th previous volume. Continuity of rights is given, and the administrative change does not affect our authors or our readers.

The journal is a publication vehicle for scientific papers, articles and book reviews, with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary studies. A significant proportion of the articles are published in foreign languages, thus ensuring accessibility to a broad international readership. Each paper is accompanied by an English abstract and a minimum of five keywords in English. The journal’s structure is organised into distinct sections, including studies and articles, books and reviews, which are grouped by discipline.

The journal’s scope encompasses academic works in the foundational domains of theology, including biblical theology, dogmatics, ethics, liturgy, patristics, catechesis, philosophy of religion, church history, church music, hymnology, deaconry, and social work. It also provides a forum for high-quality interdisciplinary studies. In accordance with the established practices of other distinguished publications, a dedicated section is allocated for book reviews, thereby facilitating the dissemination of significant recent advancements in the domains of theology and church history.

The journal’s editorial practice and academic orientation clearly meet the expectations of the European academic community. The members of the editorial board include researchers and educators affiliated with European higher education and research institutions who are active participants in international theological and religious studies research. Theological Forum regularly publishes studies by authors affiliated with European institutions, thereby promoting the visibility and dissemination of European academic research results. The journal’s potential inclusion was initiated by individuals with a European institutional background, which indicates the journal’s long-term international presence and strategic scientific positioning. Its thematic focus covers issues relevant to the European academic community, with particular emphasis on research into European Christian traditions, historical and contemporary theological discourses, and the interactions between church, society, and culture. Its interdisciplinary approach contributes to dialogue between different scientific fields and promotes the strengthening of European scientific cooperation.

The Ethical guidelines of the Journal, in conjunction with the collaborative efforts of editors, authors and proof-readers, are founded on the principles of transparency, independence and credibility. Submitted manuscripts are subjected to a double-blind peer review process. The Teologia Fórum does not levy any fees from authors, yet it does not remunerate authors for the publication of their articles. The journal does not generate revenue through advertising or subscription fees.

Another editorial principle is that science has no language, only quality, which is why the Theological Forum publishes studies not only in global languages, but also in European and Central European languages, thereby reinforcing the practice of European diversity. The journal’s publications are possible to submit in English, German, Hungarian, Slovakian and Czech.

Open Access Policy

Starting September 2026 Teológiai Fórum issues got the status of ‘Open Access’.

All articles published in Teológiai Fórum are fully open access: immediately freely available to read, download and share.

Teológiai Fórum does not charge authors any kind of publication fees or article processing charges.

Articles are published under the terms of a Creative Commons license which permits, without charge, use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

Prevention and Fight against Plagiarism and other forms of fraudulent conduct

Authors of the journal must be aware and understand that J.
